When I was younger, my mother and I went on many baking adventures together–often biting off more than we could chew but always rising to the occasion. One of our most challenging endeavors was a batch of Petits Fours we made for a school function–noting the level of attention and detail that it took to make each little bite beautiful–and so in honor of that legacy for this Mother’s Day, we present the ultimate Petits Fours challenge!
Join food stylist, Liza Jernow, as she teaches us how to bake a delicious gluten free almond cake…and then cut into shapes, layer with jam, dip into fondant, royally ice and adorn with edible flowers! Once we’re all done we’ll savor our work together over a proper cup of tea from P&T Berlin — our new favorite boutique teahouse.
Liza is a master of making beautiful and delicious food, we’re super excited to have her back in our kitchen!

ABOUT LIZA JERNOW
Liza attended Rhode Island School of Design, then dove head first into Culinary School. She started at Martha Stewart Living, working with the food editors, then became the food editor & kitchen product designer for the high end Martha by Mail catalog. A few years ago she co-created a project called Wild Apple Journal–a bunch of seasonal, gluten free recipes. Food styling is where she marries her deep passion for cooking and love of visual balance.
