Arepas: One Pocket Meals | Plant Based GF Breads with Chef Andrea Lubrano

  • 6:00pm
  • 37b north front street, kingston, ny 12401

Pre-cooked corn is the fabric of this delicious savory or sweet patty–typically served for breakfast or as a go-to late-night snack.  Arepas are often stuffed with cold cuts, eggs or chicken salad but the truth is they are a receptacle for anything spreadable or leftover.

This immersive class will teach you about Venezuelan food and flavors, and how to make arepas and all their classic fillings, vegan style. This class requires active participation from students.

On the menu:

Flax Meal Arepa with za’atar-cucumber salad and nut cheese
Traditional Arepa with Curried Vegan-Chicken salad
Carrot Arepa with Vegan Thai Larb Salad
Herb de Provence Arepa with Vegan Cream Cheese and Pickled Shallots

$75 per student, recipes included + eat-what-you-make!

Chef Lubrano came to realize that food is the most important way in which she relates to the world.  Cooking for others, sharing a meal, the passing down of food traditions, are all a vehicle for human-connection.  Andrea needed more, so she turned her passion for healthy and culturally sensitive eating into something bigger. In 2014, she obtained her Masters degree in Gastronomy from Boston University and later her chef’s certificate from the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts. Since, she has opened 2 kitchens in Brooklyn, New York: Sunrise/Sunset and Black Flamingo, where she is part-owner with Eli Goldstein of the dynamic world celebrated DJ group Soul Clap.
